The pineapple or Gaucho knot is the queen of braided leather knots,2 interweaving Turk´s head knots, which when braided with different colours form an interesting pattern. The techniques learnt are useful for other purposes such as to cover a tool handle or any other round object.
We will use a pattern to tie the knot on a mandrel and then slide it onto a wooden ball, where it will be” dressed” or pulled tight using a fid. The left over leather thongs are then plaited as a four strand round braid and finished off with a crown knot. All material and tools will be provided.
Materials Fee: 5€ paid directly to Lizzy at the festival.
Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: Open to All Levels!
Minimum age: 16 years old
Afternoon workshops start after our lunch break around 2:00pm (14:00) and end around 5 or 6pm.
Lizzy's speaks English & German.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
