An exploratory workshop combining bundle dye techniques and basic shibori, using plant-based dye baths. This is a session for those who want to slow down, experiment, and let natural materials lead the way.
Working with a combination of natural fibres, participants will learn how to bundle, fold, bind, and resist-dye their way to one-of-a-kind textile patterns. Using plant-based dye baths, fabric is transformed through colour, layering, and the magic of controlled resistance — where the areas you protect from dye become just as important as those you expose to it.
Paired with the ancient Japanese technique of shibori, the results are beautifully unpredictable: no two pieces ever come out the same. Throughout the session, you’ll build an intuitive understanding of how natural dye baths interact with different fibres and resist techniques — a toolkit of methods you can take back to your own practice.
If you’ve attended our Mordanting Workshop on Monday, you’re welcome to bring your pre-prepared textiles and put that groundwork to use here.
Material Cost: 15€ paid directly to Kasper & Jolinde on site.
Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: This workshop is open to all levels.
Minimum age: 8 years old.
Afternoon workshops start after our lunch break around 2:00pm (14:00) and end around 5 or 6pm.
Kasper & Jolinde speak Dutch and English.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
