Friday 7th - Indigo Dying & Shibori with Ida Leetz

€95.00
COMING SOON

Indigo - a journey into the colour blue and various resist dyeing techniques of Shibori (Japanese for “to wring, to squeeze, to press”)

Layering, experimenting and playing with shades, shapes and contrasts, challenging our immagination and hands by inviting the unpredictable.
In this course you will dive into Indigo the colour, its shades, its slowness, the process and joy of dyeing and the caretaking of a fructose dyeing vat made with natural indigo pigment.
There will be lots of fabric pieces from diferent materials for you to use. Additionally, I am going to have roles of fabric (linen, cotton, silk) for your own projects. Depending on the material and the amount you choose, the cost of the course varies between 20 and 40 Euros. (You are also welcome to bring white textile pieces for dyeing, but please consider that they must be made out of natural fibres (also the sewing thread!) hence we use natural Indigo which doesn’t dye synthetics.)

In the end you will have a wide collection of different fabrics dyed with different techniques in blue and white and a (first) feeling for Indigo in your hands!

Tools: Participants will be provided with all the necessary tools but you are welcome to bring a natural fiber of your choice in addition.

Material fee: 20-40€ depending on what material you use - to be paid to Ida onsite.

Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: Open to all levels tho some prior experience with wood can help.

Minimum age: 9-13 with parent, 14+

Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.

Ida speaks German & English.

If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.

IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
