Thurs 6th-Fri 7th - Split Hazel Basketry with Shannon and Charlie

€200.00
COMING SOON

Over two days, you will make a traditional split hazel basket from raw material to finished piece, learning each stage of the process by hand. Using knives and simple hand tools, you will split, dress, and prepare hazel to create all parts of the basket, developing confidence in safe tool use while gaining an understanding of how the material behaves and responds.

Guided step by step, the course introduces the fundamental techniques of split wood basketry, a heritage woodland craft rooted in working closely with natural materials. You will leave with a completed basket and the skills and knowledge to continue exploring basketry beyond the festival. Suitable for beginners and those curious about traditional craft.

Material fee: 15€ to be paid directly to Raleigh at the festival.

All tools and materials provided.

Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: Open to All Levels!

Minimum age: 16+ years old

Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.

Shannon’s courses are in English.

If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.

IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
