Learn the foundations of forging while creating your own slöjd carving knife from flat stock. We’ll shape the blade at the anvil, forging in a clean profile and distal taper, then refine it through grinding, heat treating, and sharpening — bringing it to shaving sharp.
If time allows, you’ll have the option to purchase a prepared handle and burn in the tang, beginning the process of turning your blade into a finished carving knife.
Material costs: 15€ to be paid directly to Adam at the Festival. Price will be more specific on site.
Handles will be available for an additional 15€.
Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: Open to All Levels!
Minimum age: 16 years old
Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.
Adam’s courses are in English.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you don’t speak or understand English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
