Learn to translate an image into stone, discovering how light, shadow, and depth bring a surface to life. Relief carving invites patience and precision, offering the rare satisfaction of shaping something enduring with your own hands.
The task for the day is to depict spatial depth with minimal dimensionality. Please bring a reference image. Individual objects are particularly suitable for beginners, such as a flower or a pet. It's recommended to print the image twice on plain paper; this way, you can use a photo for tracing and still have an original reference without any distracting over-resolution.
We will be working with a sandstone slab measuring approximately 25 x 25 cm.
Tools: Participants will be provided with all the necessary tools.
Material fee: 25€ to be paid directly to Pedi onsite.
Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: No prior experience needed.
Minimum age: 16 years old
Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.
Pedi speaks German & English.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
