Thursday 6th AM - Needle Cases with Martin Hazell

€35.00
COMING SOON

Cases to protect needles go back well into prehistory, reflecting both the usefulness of these often overlooked tools, and the time taken to create them.  This predates use of metals as needles in bone and antler were very important in ancient times.
On this half day course we will be carving wooden needle cases, very much inspired by Scandinavian examples. They are often chip-carved and coloured and although they won't be dry enough to paint we will discuss the options for this.
Experience needed: Some basic carving skills would be ideal (from spoon carving for example), but if you’re a beginner, come along and we’ll work it out!!

Minimum age: 10 years old

Bring with you: If you have your own carving tools please bring them. All other tools and materials will be provided. Carving Knives will be available for purchase on site.

Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.

Martin speaks English.

If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.

IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
