Are you curious about starting with spoon carving? Then this workshop is for you.
This one-day introduction is designed for beginners who want to learn the fundamental skills needed to carve safely and independently. Over the course of the day, you will carve your own cooking spoon while learning the essential techniques and principles of green wood carving.
We will cover:

  • Understanding suitable wood species and how to read the grain

  • Safe and efficient axe work for shaping the blank

  • Fundamental knife techniques for shaping the handle and refining the form

  • Proper and controlled use of the hook knife (spoon knife) for carving the bowl

Safety, tool control, and body positioning are central throughout the workshop. By the end of the day, you will have gained the confidence and basic technical foundation to continue carving spoons on your own.
You will go home with a functional, hand-carved cooking spoon and the knowledge to keep developing your skills.

Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: No experience needed tho if you have started your carving journey you will gain new insight in finding your rhythm.

Minimum age: 16 years old

Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.

Nico speaks English, Dutch, & Flemish.

If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.

IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
