Experience the joy in bowl carving.
Two days of chopping bowls in green wood, using axes and adzes and some other hand tools to make a hand carved wooden bowl. Axe carving is demanding so during the class we will focus on how our body works ergonomically and effectively. We will also discuss sharpening & design, as well as the drying process of bowls.
Tools: If you have your own Adze* (small diameter), Carving Axe, Swan Neck Gouge, Bent Gouge please bring them. Participants without tools will be provided with tools. *Please get in touch if you can bring your own Adze and or gouges as it will help us determine how many spaces we have available for this course- info@vonhandfestival.com
Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: This course is best for those with a bit of prior wood carving experience but is not necessary.
Minimum age: 16 years old
Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.
