Tiny Shrinkpots with Bettina Lutzke

€90.00
Sold Out

In this workshop we learn about an old method of making a pot from branches without turning, using only carving tools called Shrinkpots. The great thing about it is that you hollow out the branch while it is still green, cut out a groove for the bottom and put in a loose-fitting, dry bottom. Then the pot shrinks around the base so that it holds by itself. We start with small pots because no matter what size, the technique is always the same. This makes wonderful storage jars, pencil cups, cube cups for treasures of all kinds.

Material costs: 10€ to be paid directly to Bettina at the Festival

Prerequisites: Shrink pots are a great greenwood project to start with, though it will help if you already have some experience with carving and using a knife.

Tools: Please bring your carving knife (e.g. Mora 120)! All other tools will be provided and shared.

Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.

Bettina's speaks German and English.

If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.

IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
