Wednesday 6th - Traditional Timber Joints: Building Carpenter Trestles with Pirmin Lehr
This one-day class is all about traditional and effective timber frame carpentry joints, mostly mortise and tenon on hewn timber. For a simple project on this craft, carpenter's trestles will be built using the hand hewn timber made in the hewing class.
You will learn different techniques for scribing the joints correctly on the hewn timber which is not always perfect, concerning squareness and even measurements.
Also you will get to know different tools for carpenter joints such as carpenter chisels, the german Stoßaxt, big hand drills, drawknives, adze and axe.
All skill levels are welcome.
Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.
The workshop will be taught in English & German.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
