Tues 5th-Wed 6th - Leather Sami Coffee Pouch with Beke Olbers
Ever missed a little pouch for something? I’m sure!
One can never have enough bags to put things in… and if they are beautiful and handmade, you just fall in love with them.
During these 2 days I will take you deep into the skills of creating with leather. How does leather work, which stitch to use, how to decorate. We will work with traditional patterns which have been adjusted by me. I make these pouches ever since I started about 15 years ago and never got bored with them. So you are warned for yet another addiction ;-)
I will bring different kinds of supple leathers, mostly goat, sheep, roe and fellow deer. All ’naturally’ tanned, but not hand tanned (as this is just too much work or too expensive). But if you happen to have your own buckskin, thin barktan of even fish skins… bring it!
For everyones inspiration and to show what’s in the possibilities, I will bring examples and other leather crafts to inspire and encourage you to make more. You will leave this workshop with your own freshly sewn leather pouch, which is made to get used. So what will you use it for? Coffee, beads, crafty things, tea leaves, coins, fish hooks, never ending possibilities.
Material costs: 30€ to be paid directly to Beke at the festival.
All tools and materials will be provided.
Skill Level/Prerequisite’s: Open to All Levels!
Minimum age: 16 years old
Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.
Beke speaks English, Dutch & German.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
