Mon 4th-Tues 5th - Restore & Handle a Carving Axe with Michail Schütte
The world is full of unloved axeheads that would like to become your best friend- learn how to transform an old, rusty axe into a sharp carving axe with a handle that is custom made to fit your hand and purpose.
On the first day, learn about different handle shapes and how they affect the action of the axe, then shape your own handle from a piece of cleft ash.
On day two, learn how to restore and sharpen an old axehead and then fit it with your handle.
Material costs: An old axehead can be provided for 10€, but you can also bring your own axe head (that one that has been kicking round the shed for ages...) Recommended weight 600-800 g, maximum1000 g.
Workshops start after our morning circle around 9:30 am and end around 5 or 6 pm.
Michail speaks German and English.
If language is a barrier we are confident you will learn even if you speak or understand broken English. So much of the learning depends on seeing, feeling, and hearing the sounds as well.
IMPORTANT- Festival Tickets are booked separately and in addition to workshops. Please be sure you have booked your ticket before booking workshops!
