Rabea Ferber (she/her)
Rabea Ferber, born in Germany
Having obtained a Bachelor's degree in Product Design, I realised that I enjoyed being part of the process of creating objects. When I came to Japan in 2020, I first heard about the wonders of urushi lacquer. After spending two years at the Ishikawa Prefectural Institute of Yamanaka Lacquerware studying traditional Japanese end-grain turning and urushi lacquering, I set up my own workshop in Yamanaka Onsen. I enjoy working with hand tools, leaving traces of chisels and knives and adding my own narrative to the story told by the wood.
B.A. in Product Design
Graduate of the Ishikawa Prefectural Woodturning and Urushi Lacquering Center in Yamanaka Onsen, Japan
Living and working in Japan since 2020
Sam’s courses are in English.
